I've got an oven!

The billboard I was staring at while I was waiting for my train late at night in the blistering cold. I am really over this season, the lack of customers coming for drinks at the bar because it's too cold to stand outside anymore (the bar I work at has this huge court yard for people to stand outside under the stars). So not only am I not doing much at work, I get out late and it's freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing! I want the busy-ness of summer, the boiling kitchen, the loud incoherent chatter of the guests outside. I want to leave late at night and be greeted by the refreshing warm summer air and wear my t-shirts and shorts, not wait in the cold for over half an hour then get the really old trains with no heater.

Anyhows. It was actually busy last Friday, almost like when I first started working at the bar, before the economic crisis. Was good. hopefully it will continue.

In other news: I bought a Pronto Convection Oven (mini oven), because I cant live without a working oven anymore! and maintenance says they wont be able to fix my oven for another month, wth? So for the past two days I've been baking baking baking^^. Made 3 batches of Jam Drops (butter cookies with strawberry jam in the centre), practised my dish for my prac assessment coming this Wednesday (wish me luck) so that was late lunch for my sibs today. Also tried making some meatball bolognaise for dinner, I thought it tasted quite good. Unfortunately due to the small size of my oven, I cant cook much at the one time, so that's constricting and time wasting, but I feel so much better that my stress outlet is back.

In more news: I've got 2 weeks left of term until my two week break. I'm planning to do some volunteer work in restaurants around the city to increase my skills ('cause lets face it, making pizzas all day wont get me far). I've given up the idea of going to the UK for my industry placement nxt year (If I cant stand the Oz winter, how am I going to last in a country that barely sees the sun?), a few friends might be going to the Hamilton Island to work (or Whitsundays) I might join them, its a perfect lil place for me, plenty of sun, relaxing, and their main mode of transport is golf buggys, wicked!
